"Cthulhu: Rise of the Cults" is a game in which players impersonate the cult leaders worshiping the Great Old Ones, fighting against other cults seen as unworthy of revealing and tasting the prohibited knowledge. It is not an easy task. Apart from submitting acts of faith, they must also simultaneously carry out perpetual conflict with other would-be cults while remaining unseen from the curious investigators and other organizations. Their activities focus on constantly spreading the Old Ones’ influence as well as celebrating dark rituals which are meant to sow the seeds of insanity and uncertainty in the people’s minds. Successfully doing so will create the power ready for the advent of what is Unnamed and at the same time hasten the world’s demise. The Arkham City districts serve as the main arena for cult activities. In these districts they will seek to gain dominance by creating cult sites and performing rituals, as well as challenging other cults to an open confrontation. These confrontations may cause disorganization in their structures and may lead to interference by the local police force.
