So I heard a bunch of different people looking with a sort of a more gimlet eye at Kickstarters, which brings to mind, Ken, Pelgrane Press, one of our beloved sponsors, would jump out of the speakers and clobber me if I didn't have you repeat the big Kickstarter announcement concerning Pelgrane Press, which is going to very carefully release a very exciting thing with your name on it, right?
Yes, yes they are and it will be Trail of Cthulhu 2nd edition.
This is a number of cosmetic changes mostly bringing it up to speed.
This has been the flagship Gumshoe line since 2008.
We have done a lot of Gumshoe games since then.
The technology of presenting Gumshoe has gotten a little stronger.
One of the big changes will be replacing the introductory adventure with an actual introductory adventure instead of as I characterise it a cruel satire of someone's idea of a Ken Hite adventure.
Not so much an ocean of clues as a sargasso.
Right.
It is a lovely and wonderful adventure but it is in no ways introductory and I should have been hit very hard with something to make me stop doing that.
But that will be available as a PDF later on or eventually maybe collected in the collection but we will have a proper introductory adventure and to make sure that it's proper Gareth Hanrahan, Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan, beloved Pelgranista and my better half in so many ways, will be writing it as he will be overseeing the upgrade and a lot of it will be incorporating bits and bobs of Gumshoe rules into it.
We're going to incorporate the Rough Magick's magic system in, sort of maybe try and do a little more Hideous Creatures-style approach with the monsters so that you're not penned in without obviating that book, just giving people a little more freedom to change up the monsters if they want.
So basically just trying to do Trail of Cthulhu as we would do it if we were releasing it, you know, in 2024 instead of in 2008.
And I think that that, by and large, will keep everything that you love and make the parts that you went, "Well, it was 2008," better.

Por otro lado, ¿puede afectar esto a las ventas de Shadowlands? Porque en menos de 2 años se van a quedar con el básico desactualizado.

Pero esto de la segunda edición se sabe desde hace ya unos cuantos años, ¿no? Vamos, que no va a pillar por sorpresa a nadie, y menos aún a la gente de Shadowlands.
Creo que la gente de Shadowlands hizo un buen trabajo adelantando los cambios de otros juegos Gumshoe, casi en su mayoría de Agentes de la Noche. Al final no es tan grave: sólo quedaría fuera la aventura nueva, las reglas de Magia en bruto y poco más. Es más, en Magia en bruto la gente de Shadowlands añadieron material del blog de Pelgrane. La única ventaja que le veo sería el tenerlo "todo junto", pero entiendo que tuvieran que adecuar el plan editorial sin esperar a Pelgrane. La única espinita que tengo es que en el básico no añadieran los nuevos Dioses y Titanes y la info del transporte de los años 30 del blog (y que aún no hayan sacado Hideous Creatures).
Por otro lado, ¿puede afectar esto a las ventas de Shadowlands? Porque en menos de 2 años se van a quedar con el básico desactualizado.
No creo, dos años da para terminar de traducir toda la línea y para que haya pasado suficiente tiempo como para vender el nuevo básico.
Pues parece que ya es oficial (vía Kickstarter en noviembre).
¿No se ha quedado este juego ya un poco por el camino?
Precisamente por eso habrán querido darle una segunda edición, yo creo que se ha convertido en una marca de prestigio y hacen bien en no enterrarlo, si se lo curran pueden resucitarlo sin problema.
Lo que estaría bien es que publicaran de una p... vez Borellus Connection, cuyo prepedido se abrió en febrero de 2021.
